Robert Elwood Gray Obituary
ROBERT ELWOOD GRAY Robert Elwood Gray, family man, Marine, Mason, woodworker, and motorcycle enthusiast passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Born in Philadelphia, Bob grew up on Main Street in Spring City, PA and was part of the Spring-Ford Class of 1957. He was a three-letterman, who was particularly interested in Basketball. Bob's classmates noted his flashy clothes and serious expression. Looking back at his 74 years, they were right that his industriousness would spell achievement for him. He became a Tool and Die Maker like his grandfather, Elwood Krier. Bob loved working in tenths. This was his ability to machine metal to a precision of 0.0001 inches. After Retirement, Bob continued his love of making things with his own business, Bunk Beds Plus. After 16 years, Bunk Bed Bob was proud to say his handmade beds were up and down the East Coast. One Serviceman even took his little girl's bed all the way to Turkey. Bob's family was the most important thing to him. He was the only son of the late Alfred Lee and Ruth Ellen (Krier) Gray. Ellen always said he was her best Mother's Day gift and that he broke the mold! Bob is survived by his wife of 34 years Holly Jean (Hoss) Gray and he loved to joke that he robbed the cradle. Bob and Holly renewed their wedding vows for their 30th Anniversary and took the trip of a lifetime to Yellowstone National Park in 2010. Bob was a true gentleman who loved his two beautiful daughters Mary Ellen West, wife of Victor West, (Royersford), and Susan Jeanette Evans, wife of Robert Evans, (Shickshinny) more and more as the years went by. Bob's love for his family blossomed with Mary's three children Walt Winters, Matt Winters, and Keith Omilak, and Susan's three children Crystal Cottle, Brian Edkin, and Joseph Edkin. Bob enjoyed many happy days with his eight great-grandchildren. He couldn't wait for family picnics at Knoebel's Grove, where he rode the train to see the squirrels eating corn. Back in the 70's his good friend, Bob Ewald, loaned him his Honda 450. And so Bob's love for motorcycles began. Bob's family continued to grow as a member of PA Chapter H of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He loved traveling all over the country on his white GL1800 trike. The group is very focused on safe riding and Bob did his best to add safety chrome and safety lights to his trike each year. PA Chapter H presented Bob with a Perfect Attendance certificate in 2013. USMC Private First Class Robert Gray served his country in Cuba .This quiet man, who always put others first, was a long-time member of the Warren F & AM Lodge No. 310 in Collegeville. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street , Royersford , PA 19468 on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11 a.m. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
