DAVID N. SHANAMAN, 90, OF SPRING CITY David N. Shanaman, 90, loving husband of Elizabeth "Bette" (Reppert) Shanaman of Spring City died on Tuesday at his daughter's residence. David was born in Malvern, PA, a son to the late William "Harry" and Lucy (Bowman) Shanaman. David was raised in Parker Ford and resided most of his life in the Royersford and Spring City areas. David has two surviving brothers: Carmen and Robert (Bob) both living in Florida plus three daughters: Jo Ann Roussey wife of Gregory of York PA, Lorraine Woodland wife of Benjamin of Chester Springs PA, and Carol Ludwig wife of Kevin of Spring City. He has nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by son David Randall husband of Carolyn of Royersford, four brothers: Fred, Harold, Milton, and Warren plus seven sisters: Eleanor Phiel, Dorothy John French, Elizabeth (Betty) Brady, Isabel Dobbins, Lucy Waldo, Lois McCann, and Mary Oberdorf. In his younger days David raised pigeons and quail and would release them on the Pennhurst property. David served three years for his county during World War II in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. He was employed as a Master carpenter for many years at P&M Planning Mill and the former Pennhurst Center until his retirement. David enjoyed woodworking and also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching and camping. He was known for sitting outside his garage with his cigar and lending a hand to anyone in need. He especially enjoyed using his craftsmanship for the good of others. David loved spending quality time with his grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, Bridge and Church Streets Spring City, PA. The Reverend Caleb Harms will officiate. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 10 to 11am Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in his memory to the ALS Association Development Dept. 1275 K Street Suite 250 Washington DC 2005 or Seasons Hospice 8537 Solution Center Chicago IL 6067-8005.
