Charles A. Dasch Obituary

Charles A. Dasch, 91, of Pottstown, retired District Justice, husband of the late Evelyn "Deb" (Gaughan) Dasch, died on July 31, 2014.
Born in Baltimore, MD on July 26, 1923, he was the only child of Charles P. Dasch and Anna Rumpf Dasch.
He attended public and Catholic schools in Baltimore. Upon moving to Pottstown, he was employed by Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., and the Occidental Petroleum Co., as well as serving in various Local 336 Union elected positions.
Prior to being elected and serving 39 years in the judicial system as a Justice of the Peace and District Justice, he was a candidate for State Representative in the 146th legislative district in the 1960's. He was chairman of the Democratic Committee of the 146th legislative district and also Vice Chairman of the Pottstown Area Democratic Committee.
In 1961, he was appointed the Revenue Agent at Norristown State Hospital by the late Gov. David Lawrence, and later was an auditor in the Auditor General's office under Auditor General Robert Casey.
He was a WWII veteran and member of the American Legion Post #47 in Pottstown. Charles was a member of Ranshaw United Methodist Church in Ranshaw, PA and the Weslyn Christian Church in Pottstown.
Charles is survived by two daughters Deborah A. Pennebacker wife of David of Benton, and Charlene S. Smith wife of Mark of Pottstown; one grandson John C. Balogh husband of Kristin of Encinitas, CA; two great grandchildren Riley Evelyn and McKinley Chene Balogh of Encinitas, CA; brother-in-law Paul J. Gaughan husband of Dorothy of Ranshaw; and many nieces and nephews.
He will always be remembered as a beloved husband, father, and friend to all. He was a true gentleman who believed in the goodness of every man. He loved animals, especially dogs, his family, his best friend, Richard M. Lovenwirth, who he called his brother, his community, and his country.
A funeral service will be held Friday August 8, 2014 at 7:30 PM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown. Visitation will be held Friday from 6:00-7:15 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
