Katharine A. Moyer (Gotwals) Gottshall Obituary
Katharine A. (Gotwals) Moyer Gottshall, 104, wife of the late Harry L. "Pud" Moyer and the late William H. Gottshall, died Saturday, at Manatawny Manor, E. Coventry Twp. She was a former resident of Upper Providence Twp.
Mrs. Gottshall was born on August 20, 1910, in the Yerkes section of Upper Providence Twp., and was the daughter of the late Abram D. and Mary (Young) Gotwals. She was a graduate of Collegeville High School and West Chester Normal School.
Before she retired, Mrs. Gottshall taught at the Oaks Elementary School and H.K. Boyer Elementary School, Lower Providence Twp. She also was a substitute teacher for numerous area schools.
Mrs. Gottshall was a member of St. Luke's United Church Of Christ, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of Girls Guild; a life member of Keystone Grange #2, Trappe; and a 50 year member of Freeland Chapter #323, Order Of The Eastern Star, Collegeville. She enjoyed her vegetable garden every year and loved to travel. She and first husband visited all 50 states.
Mrs. Gottshall is survived by her daughters, Margaret, wife of the late Ralph Stoudt, E. Coventry Twp., and Janet, wife of John Kimmich, Upper Providence Twp.; her step daughters, Barbara, wife of Douglas Schaffer, Milford Twp., Marilyn, wife of Robert Helm, W. Rockhill Twp., and Patricia, wife of Rev. William Cluley, Lancaster; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Moyer, Jody Downing, Leon Moyer, Todd Moyer, Lori Moyer, Wendy Twaddell, Becky Kuhn, Randy Stoudt, and Gregory Kimmich; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Moyer, and her brother, Harold Gotwals.
The funeral service, including an Eastern Star service, will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, at St. Luke's United Church Of Christ, with the Rev. Ann T. Few, officiating. Burial will be in Providence Mennonite Cemetery, Upper Providence Twp. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 AM, Wednesday, at church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's United Church Of Christ, 200 W. Main St., Trappe, PA 19426. Arrangements are by Holcombe Funeral Home, Inc., Trappe.
