THOMAS E. SINGER, 71, OF WEST CHESTER Thomas E. Singer, 71, of West Chester, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012 at Brandywine Hall Care Center in West Chester. Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Smith Singer. He was a graduate of West Chester High School and was the owner of the Phoenix Tavern for 30 years, retiring in 2002. In his spare time, Mr. Singer loved boating and trips to Crystal Beach, Maryland. He enjoyed traveling and visiting the casinos in Atlantic City. He is survived by his children, Dawn M. Ford of West Chester and Wayne E. Singer of Phoenixville. Also surviving are his brothers, James of West Chester and Charles of Florida; sisters, Eleanor Pegler of Downingtown and Mary Wood of Coatesville; grandchildren, Michael and Andrew Ford, Justin Harper Singer and Joselyn Harper Singer, and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Alfred "Huck" Singer. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, where family and friends may call from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Interment will be private.
