Bruce A. Kassel, 80, of Phoenixville, Pa., died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012. He was the husband of the late Mabel V. (Rutter) Kassel, and the longtime companion of Rosemarie Carpenter.|
Born in Phoenixville, Pa., he was the son of the late Paul O. and Mildred (Taney) Kassel.
Bruce served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Machinist's Mate Third Class on the USS Bon Homme Richard during the Korean War.
He worked 32 years and served as president of the union for the West Company in Phoenixville. Prior to working at the West Company he worked for the former Phoenix Steel Corporation.
He was a life member of the West End Fire Company, where he shared weekends as the ambulance/fire truck driver with William Ravis for many years. He was also a life member the of Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1564, Phoenixville, and a member of the American Legion Post #602 in Spring City, Pa.
Surviving him are his daughter, Kimberly A., wife of Doug Lundell, of Kimberton, Pa., his daughter, Gail L., wife of Pasquale Nattle Jr., of Mont Clare, Pa., his son, Bruce A. Kassel, husband of Elizabeth, of Pottstown, Pa., his daughter, Christina Kassel, of Pottstown, Pa., and two stepdaughters, Joy and KAthi. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Kassel.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service in the Devlin Rosmos Kepp & Gatcha Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 517 S. Main St. at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville, Pa., Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.
A viewing will be held in the funeral home from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Riverview Adult Day Care, 1600 Black Rock Road, Royersford, PA 19468.
