Edward O. "Ned" Selwyn Sr., 79, of Amity Township, died Nov. 15, 2012 in Phoenixville Hospital where he was a patient for the past three weeks. He was the husband of Louise S. (Epps) Selwyn. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary Aug. 27.
Born in Pottstown, he was a son of the late Olav & Georgianna (Arbuckle) Selwyn.
Ned was the owner and operator of Amity Industries, Amity Township for 31 years, retiring in 2004. The business is still in operation under the leadership of his son. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. Paul's U.C.C. in Douglassville. He graduated from Spring City High School and was a member of Spring City Lodge #553, Scottish Rite Bodies in Reading, Rajah Shrine and American Legion Post #331, Stone Harbor. He was a past director of Allentown Court #128 Royal Order of Jesters and a life member of the Kachina Club and Amity Fire Company. He was a former member of B.P.O.E, Pottstown #814.
He was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, boating and gardening. His greatest joy was working in the yard with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Margaret A., wife of James Care Jr., of Amityville, Bonnie L., wife of Donald J. Seng, of Kutztown, and her twin sister, Linda L. Pizarro, of Rehoboth Beach, Del., one son, Edward O. "Ned" Selwyn Jr., husband of Roxanne S. Selwyn, of Fleetwood. He is also survived by one sister, Blais, wife of Joseph Bari, of Spring City. Additionally, he is survived by 10 grandchildren, Missy, Brookie, Jimmy, Renae, Justin, Jason, Nicole, Louie, Chantel and Lauren and six great-grandchildren, Timmy, Benjamin, Mason, Breanne, Jayden and Mariah.
He was predeceased by his brother, Ronald Selwyn, and great-grandson, Colby Parker.
Funeral services are from St. Paul's U.C.C., 1312 Old Swede Road, Douglassville, PA 19518 Monday, Nov. 19, 2012 at 1 p.m. The Rev. Steven Simpson, Ned's pastor, will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Douglassville. His viewing will be Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the church with Masonic services at 5 p.m. by Spring City Lodge #553. Additional viewing will be Monday from 12 noon to service time.
