JUNE M. HELFRICH, 89, OF SANATOGA June M. (Wien) Helfrich, 89, of Sanatoga, widow of Frank J. Helfrich, died Wednesday at her daughter & son in laws residence in Lower Pottsgrove Twp. Born in Stowe, PA, on June 1, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Daniel T.R. Wien and the late Anna J. (Neuman) Wien. June and her late husband Frank, who passed away in 1992, were married Sept. 20, 1947. After Frank's retirement from Dana in 1973, they spent each spring in Florida on the golf course and with friends. She was a graduate of the 1941 class of Pottstown High School, and she continued monthly gatherings with a group of dear girlfriends from high school, know as "The Club Girls". She previously worked for Max Weiss in sales and the former Stanley G. Flagg as a clerk-typist. June was a member of Shenkel United Church of Christ, Pottstown; AARP, and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She was a recipient of numerous awards for her art work. Her paintings were on display at the Center for the Arts at the Hill School and the Pottstown Library and were featured in the Pottstown Mercury. June loved playing sports and played on a bowling league and golf team. She traveled many places including England, Ireland, Italy, the Mediterranean, Australia, the Caribbean, the Panama Canal and the Galapagos Islands. She is survived by a daughter, Jan, wife of Raymond Bechtel Jr., Lower Pottsgrove Twp.; a sister, Elaine, wife of Ferrill Alderfer, Frederick; grandchildren, Raymond (Tyke) Bechtel III and his wife, Teri, Gilbertsville, and Brian Bechtel and his wife, Bethlyn, Pottstown; great-grandchildren, Annabel and Nathaniel of Gilbertsville, Justyn Forrest, Shawnee OK, and Josephine and Danielle, Pottstown, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Harold Helfrich, and a sister, Doris Harp. Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013 from the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, 359 King St., Pottstown. Officiating will be Reverend Bonnie Moore. Burial will be private. There will be no viewing. Contributions may be made in her memory to Shenkel United Church of Christ, 1628 Unionville Road, Pottstown, PA 19465.
