CARL NOSAL, 80, OF BOYERTOWN Carl Nosal, 80, of Boyertown, husband of Fern M. (Solt) Nosal, passed away on Tuesday at his residence at Chestnut Knoll. Born in Coopersburg, he was the son of the late John L. and Anna (Markowitz) Nosal. Carl was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Spangsville. He was the former co-owner of the Pit-Stop Tavern in New Berlinville. He was a member of the Boyertown Hook & Ladder, Keystone Fire Co., Barto Fire Co. and Limeport Fire Co. He enjoyed golfing and worked as a mechanic in the pit crew for the Indy 500 and other racing circuits, including midget car racing. He met Mario Andretti at a young age and introduced him to the racing world. They remained friends ever since. Surviving with his wife is his sister, Amelia Bahrman, wife of Thor, of Bethlehem; step-son, Paul E. Labe Jr., husband of Jennifer Labe, and step-grandsons, Paul E. Labe III and Jacob E. Labe, all of Maryland. He is predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, John, Walter and Michael Nosal, and his sisters, Anna Benner, Stella Gilligan, Mary Zellner and Sophia McGlade. A memorial service will be Saturday, 11 a.m. at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 325 Covered Bridge Road, Spangsville, PA, with Pastor Robert Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 1020 E. Phila.
