Obituary Condolences

RUSSELL G. LEE, 95, OF ROYERSFORD Russell G. "Ropey" Lee, 95, of Royersford, husband of the late Germaine (Saemmer) Lee, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Parkhouse Providence Pointe. Born in Spring City, PA, he was the son of the late George W. Lee and Adda C. (Buckwalter) Lee. Russell was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Navy as Chief Radioman, stationed aboard the destroyer escort, the USS Jacob Jones in the Atlantic Theatre. An electrician by trade, he retired from Penco Products in Oaks and moved to Payson, AZ. He was an avid ham radio operator (W3GGY), licensed in 1936 at 18 years of age, and a member of the Mid-Atlantic Radio Club and Reading Radio Club. He had a great love and knowledge of trains, often reminiscing about the PA and Reading Railroads. One of his fondest memories was riding on the Spring City Trolley with his conductor father, George W. Lee. After retirement, he traveled extensively in Europe, particularly France, and throughout the United States. He is survived by two children, John R. Lee and Loretta L. Fox, both of Royersford; one sister, Thelma Wisler, and one sister-in-law, Marguerite Lee; two grandchildren, Michael Fox, husband of Colleen, and Dawn Wrenfrow Buchan, wife of Brian; three great-grandchildren, Hailey and Michaela Fox, and Abby Wrenfrow. Russell was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy (Blimline) Lee, in 1970; brothers Harold and Blaine Lee, and sisters Anna Collins and Mary Bauer. He was a member of Spring City Assembly of God Church. Russell believed death was not the end but rather the beginning of a new life with his Creator. With that in mind, his children request that friends and family choose how they wish to remember and celebrate Russell's life. There will be no service and burial will be private.
