Obituary Condolences

PHILLIP M. GRIEBEL, 88, OF LIMERICK Phillip M. Griebel, 88, husband of the late Lucille M. (Jones) Griebel, of Limerick, formerly Centreville, VA, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013, in the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Born in Little River, Kansas, he was a son of the late George P. and Franklyn (Cummings) Griebel. He had been a member of the Centreville United Methodist Church in Centreville, VA, and a member of the Free and Accepted Masons. He attended Hutchinson Junior College and Wichita State University prior to his enlistment in the US Navy, where he served in the Pacific during World War II. Phillip retired in 1974 as a Coast Guard Commander after 29 years of service. He was also a 35 year member of AA. Mr. Griebel is survived by his children, George P., husband of Karen Griebel, of Herndon, VA; Catherine L. Griebel, of Troy, PA, and Marcia P. Griebel, of Limerick, PA; sister, Marcia, wife of the late Dean Nelson, and grandchildren, Clarissa Franklyn Griebel, Sofia Constance Matthews, Phillip Griebel and Lorelee Griebel. He was preceded in death by a son, Franklin D. Griebel, and two brothers, Henry and Max Griebel. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 12 p.m., at the Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA. Interment will follow in the Stonewall Memorial Gardens, Manassas, VA. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Arcola United Methodist Church, 24757 Evergreen Mills Road, Dulles, VA 20166.
