MARION KUNITSKY, 85, OF POTTSTOWN Marion Kunitsky, 85, of Pottstown, entered into eternal rest surrounded by his loving family at Manatawny Manor on May 22, 2013, exactly two months shy of his 86th birthday. Marion, the husband of Beverly (Wagner)Kunitsky, just recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Born and raised in Fagleysville, he was the son of the late Stephen Kunitsky and Agnes (Shatkum) Sawchuk. He was the youngest of seven children. He graduated from Pottstown High School in 1945, and served in the Navy during
World War II
. Marion worked for the United States Post Office for 38 years. Over the years, he also worked part time at Town Toy, Pottstown Paper & Supply, and Cole Tobacco. He was the originator of the anocronym L.A.M.P. - Lights for Athletes & Music at Pottsgrove - when the high school put lights on the athletic field in 1989. Besides being a loving husband, father and grandfather, Marion was a faithful member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, The Pottstown Kiwanis Club and
#814, Pottstown. Marion enjoyed the Phillies and never missed an opportunity to attend events and activities of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. But probably the thing most everyone will remember about him was his love of making people laugh by sharing his incredible and never ending collection of jokes. Surviving beside his wife are his five daughters, Kathy, wife of Frank Yacono, Gilbertsville; Bonnie Harp, Phoenixville; Sandra Conrad, wife of Thomas, Palmetto, FL; Donna Brickman, wife of Michael, St. Petersburg, FL, and Linda Barker, wife of David, El Paso, TX; grandchildren, Karlee Harp, Valerie Merdinger, Kortney Santer, Michele DiPasquale, Kacee Kovach, Janelle Sidman, Frankie Yacono, Sheri Prendergast, Keenan Harp, Nick Yacono, Kristin Fox, Ethan and Emma Barker, and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hanover and Walnut streets, Pottstown. Officiating will be Reverend James Wolford. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park. There will be a viewing Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Contributions may be made in his memory to Emmanuel Lutheran Church "Shares of Faith", 150 N. Hanover St., Pottstown, PA 19464 or Pottstown Kiwanis Club or Pottstown Elk's Club #814, 61 E.
