Bonnie E. Schwartz

Obituary Condolences

BONNIE E. SCHWARTZ, 70, OF KIMBERTON Bonnie E. (Wheeler) Schwartz, wife of Dr. Lester W. Schwartz, of West Winds Farm, Kimberton, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 following a short illness. Bonnie was born in Gays Mills, Wisconsin on February 15, 1943 and spent her early life in Baraboo, WI. She was a daughter of the late James W. and Althea S. (Stantorf) Wheeler. Bonnie attended Baraboo High School (Class of '61), where she was an active member of the band and choir. She was a graduate of the Accredited Schools of Beauty Culture, Inc., Madison, WI and returned to Baraboo as a hair stylist. She followed her husband to West Lafayette, Indiana and to Silver Springs, MD where she was a loving mom and homemaker. Opportunities drew the Schwartz family to Davis, CA where she became the volunteer coordinator for the City of Davis in the mid-1970's. In California she learned to love outdoor adventure in the Sierra Nevada Mountains involving camping, backpacking, limited skiing, and occasional visits to Lake Tahoe. Bonnie and family moved to Kimberton in June of 1982. She became a faithful member of Brownback's United Church of Christ, joining the choir and most recently participated in the Handbell Choir. She recently enjoyed her involvement with the office activities of Brownbacks and for several years participated on the decoration committee. She was a member of the Royal Scarlet Flock of the Red Hat Society, a supporter of the French and Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust, the Natural Lands Trust, the Aldo Leopold Foundation and the Baraboo Range Preservation Association; a past member of Davis Venture Club and a volunteer supporter of the March of Dimes. She was employed at Hair Today of Bucktown for more than two decades and found much pleasure in serving her many clients. She loved flowers and actively offered her arranging talents whenever needed. She enjoyed her farm, the peace and serenity it offered, but willingly participated in global travels with her husband as opportunities presented. Her "life changing" adventures included travels to the South Pacific, the Caribbean, Australia, China, South Africa, Europe and the Mediterranean. Domestic travels with her family, including grandchildren, to Hawaii and "cowboy country' were particular highlights after her retirement. She enjoyed most types of music and worked hard to master the piano. In addition to her loving husband, Bonnie is survived by her children, Shelly, wife of Peter Forsling, of Jacksonville, FL and Andrew, husband of Jill Schwartz, of Chester Springs; six grandchildren, William, Alexander and Elizabeth Forsling and Nathaniel, Matthew and Julia Schwartz; and many nieces and nephews of the Bittner family. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Bittner. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at Brownback's United Church of Christ, 640 Ridge Road, Spring City, PA, on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Mark Stryjak. Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Church. Arrangements are being handled by the CattermoleKlotzbach Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered online at www.RoyersfordFuneralHome.com In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bonnie's name to Brownback's United Church of Christ. Family and friends are graciously invited to join in a celebration of Bonnie's life at the Kimberton Inn following the service.
