Lois Scheid Obituary

LOIS A. SCHEID Lois Ann (Arnold) Scheid, 82, of Pottstown, formerly of Lancaster, died Saturday, September 13, 2014 at home with her husband by her side, doing what she loved that was watching football. She was the wife of Harold D. Scheid for 59 years. They were married on July 4, 1955. She was an avid bowler holding many trophies won during her times living in Hopewell, VA and later in Pottstown. Following cancer surgery in 1983, she gained strength by walking many miles in Coventry Mall with her morning "walk and dice game" friends. Spinning slot machines at the casino with those same friends and family brought numerous stories and laughs. But, Lois didn't always play. Lois was a hard worker and loyal employee. Lois' life work was a cashier, hostess, bookkeeper, and head bank teller, gave her an opportunity to encourage many teenagers as well as adults, a gift she never stopped giving. A Cabbage Hill native, born November 24, 1932 in Lancaster, she was the son of the late Albert H. and Mildred (Gochenauer) Arnold, Sr. A devout Catholic, Lois was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Pottstown. She was a former member of St Joseph Catholic Church, Lancaster where she attended grade school. Lois was a 1951 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High. Mostly she was just plain funny and a loving wife, mom and nanny. Her fun and feisty spirit remains in with her family. Also surviving are three children, Connie J. married to James Black, of Clarksville, TN, Brian T. Scheid married to Barbara, of Pearisburg, VA and Patricia L. Ferrante, of Pottstown; seven grandchildren, Craig T. Mace, Kelli A. Wilson, Brian S. Scheid, Lauren E. Scheid, Nadia Stasiak, Jessica L. Ferrante and Stefania M. Ferrante; seven great-grandchildren and two siblings, Albert H. Arnold, Jr. married to Carrie, of Lancaster and Mildred Young, of Merrick, NY. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle L. Mace. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to meet at the Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home "Sullivan Home", 121 South Prince Street, Lancaster (on-site parking with attendants) on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph Street, Lancaster, PA 17603 at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the St. Joseph New Cemetery, Bausman, PA. Friends may view at the Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home "Sullivan Home" on Friday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Memorials may be made in memory of Lois to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org. The memory I hold is in Millie's backyard going one for one with the jokes and comebacks. What a beautiful person I'll miss her.
