Cohen, Robert
Robert Cohen Millsboro - Robert "Bob" Cohen of Millsboro, DE, formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on April 14, 2015 after a courageous struggle with congestive heart failure and end stage renal disease, just shy of his 72nd birthday. Bob was born in New York, NY and grew up in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx. He was a graduate of DeWitt Clinton High School, Bronx, NY and The Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, NY. Bob spent 39 years happily raising his family in the Hudson Valley and retired from the Dutchess County Sheriff's Department to a Delaware beach community in 2009, where he spent countless mornings watching the dolphins chase the Cape May-Lewes Ferry and keeping an eye out for those "whitecaps." Poppy was living the dream and moves forward with the hearts of his family on his wings: his wife of 40 years at home, Joan Elizabeth (Roberts) Cohen; his beloved daughter, Jennifer Cohen Cheplick, her husband Peter and his adored granddaughters, Natalie Ann and Sarah Grace of Emmaus, PA; his precious sons (and sous chefs) Matthew Robert of Washington, DC and Daniel Alexander of Seattle, WA. He will be sorely missed by his best friend, Godfrey Albert Sundmark, Riverdale, NY. Bob is predeceased by his parents, Bronx Judge Murry Cohen and Natividad Alvarez Cohen, RN; and his devoted sister, Linda Cohen Sundmark. Bob's final acts of generosity are his life-saving organ donations to the Gift of Life Donor Program in Philadelphia, PA. To honor his life, please consider donating to either www.donors1.org for the Gift of Life Program or to www.kidneymd.org for the 2015 Southern Delaware Kidney Walk for Team Coneheads. We will be walking on his birthday, April 26, 2015 at his favorite beach, Cape Henlopen State Park. Donate Life! Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.melsonfuneralservices.com .
