Christopher T. Watkins Dover Plains - Christopher Thomas Watkins, 30, a lifelong resident of Dover Plains, NY died on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. Chris worked until very recently as a Prep Cook at Charlotte's Restaurant in Millbrook, NY. Born on June 10, 1986 in Poughkeepsie, NY he was the son of Janice (McGill) Acken and her husband, Edwin, of Dover Plains, NY and Joseph Watkins of Dover Plains, NY. Chris graduated Dover High School class of 2004. In addition to his parents and step-father, Chris is survived by his paternal grandmother, Anne Watkins of Poughquag, NY; his aunts, Doretta Tate of Dover Plains, Mary Casale of Poughkeepsie, Aleta Volkman of Homosassa, FL and Patricia Pippa of Poughquag, NY; his uncles, James (Marge) McGill of Selma, NC and Thomas (Sherry) Watkins of Lagrange, NY. He is also survived by his cousins, Jacey Volkman, Marianne (Stephen) Questle, Keith Moore, Robert (Rebecca) Smith, Tim (Leslie) Smith, Lorrinda and Amanda McGill, Jay (Robin) Jones and his maternal grandparents, Keith and Beulah McGill and Thomas Watkins. Graveside services and burial will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at South Dover Rural Cemetery, Route 55, Wingdale, NY with Rev. Anthony Bacino officiating. Wyant, James R.  
James R. Wyant Tivoli - James R. Wyant, 56, passed away Friday, July 29th at Vassar Medical Center. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and NASCAR. For years he worked with his father and presently has been a driver for Town Taxi. Born August 6, 1959, in Rhinebeck he was the son of Lloyd Wyant, Sr. and Anna (Rifenburgh) Wyant. Jim is survived by a sister Roseanna Link and her husband Tim; a brother David Wyant and his wife Amy; nieces and nephews Lloyd III, Danielle, Jessica Jennifer and Miranda Wyant, Savanna Link, DJ DePuy; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Calling hours are Monday, 5 to 8 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St. Rhinebeck. Funeral services are Tuesday, 12 PM, at the funeral home. John J. Whalen, Jr. Wesley Chapel, FL - John J. Whalen, Jr. of Wesley Chapel Florida passed away August 13, 2016. He was born January 31, 1925 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He is survived by his 3 children Greg, John and Sue Ann, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. His wife of 63 years, Louise passed away 2 years ago. "Jack" was a WWII Navy Veteran and Served 30 years as the Fire Captain for Fairview Fire Department.

Walsh, Arthur  
Arthur J. Walsh AMENIA, NY - Arthur J. Walsh, 91, a longtime resident of Amenia, New York, died on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at his home after a battle with cancer. Mr. Walsh was the owner of A.J. Walsh & Associates, a photo retouching company that was based in New York City. During his career, his clients included CBS Records, NBC, and numerous magazines, publications, and advertising agencies. Arthur Jerome Walsh was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 25, 1924. He was the son of Arthur and Mary (Shine) Walsh. After graduating from the High School of Music and Art in New York City in 1943, he enlisted with the U.S. Army and served as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. His bravery and courageous service during several battles and campaigns in the South Pacific led to several decorations and citations including the American Service Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, and two Purple Hearts. It wasn't until 66 years later at a 2011 Veterans Day ceremony at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library did Arthur finally receive his medals and citations. At the ceremony, he was presented a special proclamation from U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer who recognized his "unwavering dedication and selflessness" to New York, his country, and his fellow veterans. After the war, Arthur returned to Brooklyn where he worked for The Brooklyn Eagle before opening his own small business. Arthur married Theresa Martha Tumminelli in 1949. They were married 64 years until Theresa died on March 20, 2014. Arthur is survived by his daughters, Ellen Walsh of Amenia, NY; Janice Shaw and her husband, Edward, of Cortlandt Manor, NY; and Nancy Smith and her husband, John, of Poughkeepsie, NY, and by his sons James Walsh of Amenia, NY; Dennis Walsh of Hyde Park, NY; Robert Walsh and his wife, Cheri, of Brooklyn, NY; and Kenneth Walsh and his wife, Suzanne, of Vassalboro, ME. Arthur is also survived by nine grandchildren, Timothy and his wife, Michelle, Brianne, Kara, Liam, Sean and Kate Walsh, Julia and Emily Shaw, and Shauna Walczak and her husband, Jonathan and their children, Arthur's great grandchildren, Grace, Augustine, and Adeline. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Immaculate Conception Church, Lavelle Rd., Amenia, NY. Burial with military honors will follow at Amenia Island Cemetery.
