Angarola, Robert M.
Robert M. Angarola Brooklyn, NY - I thank my family and friends for an amazing life and journey that ended peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2016. I have had the pleasure and boundless joy of sharing the past 25 years with Shirley Abigail Adams, my closest friend and companion. I am humble and grateful to my family, friends and associates who enriched my life, nourished my soul, shared their knowledge and included me in their blessings, ensuring for me a happy and successful life. My life began in Brooklyn, NY on August 7, 1939 with my parents, Marie (Treglia) Angarola and Michael Angarola, sister Geraldine Angarola LaPolla and brother Michael Angarola, all of whom pre-deceased me. I wanted to be a lawyer. With my family's encouragement I studied to become a priest. As an altar boy, I served mass daily. I attended Cathedral Preparatory School, Bklyn., a seminary for the priesthood. I received a BA in Philosophy/Psychology from St. John's University. I spent a year novitiate in Saranac Lake, N.Y., attended seminary in Garrison, N.Y., and the Catholic University/Graymoor Seminary, Washington, D.C. I completed my MA in Theology at St. John's University. With mixed emotions, an outstanding education, I decided to leave the seminary. In 1967, I married, Carol A. McAllister. We are blessed with three wonderful children, Carol Beth, Jennifer and son Jonathan Angarola. I am very proud of my children, I want them to remember me and know that "I love you and have always loved you before you were you". While studying for my PHD at NYU, I taught Theology at St. Francis College, Bklyn. Heights, along with then professor and best friend President of NYU John Sexton. I also worked at New York Hospital, NYC Human Resources Adm. and NYC Community Development Agency where I remained for 15 yrs., serving in a number of administrative positions. In 1994, I moved to Dutchess County to serve as Executive Director of the DC Community Action Agency. Among others, we established a job training-entrepreneurship program to teach unemployed men and women to repair and program computers. I spearheaded the move to transition the agency from rental-dependency to ownership, purchasing 5 county offices producing residential incomes for DCCAA. I worked with the Greater Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce, Green Acres Camp, Dover, NY., Community Coordinator, City of Poughkeepsie, Waryas Park Sculpture Project, Poughkeepsie Area Chamber of Commerce and the (LEAP) Pre-School Program, MLK, Pok. Housing Authority. In addition to my life-long companion, Shirley A. Adams, Pok. NY, my children, Carol Beth Lauria (children: Christopher and Emma) Jennifer Kiss (husband, Jesse, children: Marley and Kyra) Bergen County, N.J. and Jonathan Angarola, NYC their mother, Carol Angarola, Bergen County, N.J.
