Cahill, Rosemarie  
Rosemarie Cahill Beacon - Our beloved mother, wife and friend, Rosemarie Cahill, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 76 years old and a lifelong Beacon resident. Rosemarie was born in Beacon on July 2, 1938 the daughter of the late Ellsworth and Fannie Shevetone McDermott. She was a graduate of Beacon High School, Class of 1957. On May 10, 1958 Rosemarie married John J. Cahill. Mr. Cahill survives at home. In addition to her husband, Rosemarie is survived by her sons, Scot Cahill of Boston and Mark Cahill of Pittsburgh; her daughter-in-law, Judy Cahill of Saratoga Springs; her granddaughter, Brandi Fisher; her great grandson, Gabriel Cuello; her brother, Edward McDermott of Long Island; several nieces, nephews and family members. Rosemarie was predeceased by her daughter, Lisa Cahill - Pierce in 2012 and her son, John Cahill, III in 2013. Rosemarie loved to visit the Jersey Shore, where her and husband John vacationed yearly. She was always happy watching the waves with her feet in the sand. She loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed by them. The family will receive their friends on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon. The funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at South Tower 7th Floor at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Carpenter, Charles  
Charles E. Carpenter Jr. Poughkeepsie - Charles E. Carpenter Jr., formerly Commissioner of the City of Poughkeepsie Department of Social Services, died at the Pines of Poughkeepsie nursing home, Poughkeepsie, NY on April 11, 2015. He was born September 5, 1918 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Florence Riggs and Charles E. Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter joined the former Poughkeepsie Department of Public Welfare in January 1951 as a child caseworker. He became a senior caseworker in the child welfare division in 1959 and served as Deputy Commissioner and Director of Social Services in the early 1970's. Mr. Carpenter is a graduate of Wilmington College, Wilmington, Ohio, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in social science. He studied for an additional year for an Ohio teaching credential on the secondary level. During World War II he served in the Civilian Public Service Program, under Selective Service, which included participation in reforestation projects in Oregon and medical research on malaria in New York City. Other jobs he held included working as a licensed ship purser in runs to Puerto Rico, as a cattle attendant on livestock shipments to Europe, and as a part-time worker with the American Friends Service Committee. In 1948 he married Grete Sorter, a native of Austria, and in 1950 they settled in Poughkeepsie, NY. There he became an active member of Poughkeepsie Friends Meeting, serving on several committees. Mr. Carpenter is survived by three children, Charles E. Carpenter III of Concord, MA, Kenneth S. Carpenter of Edwards, CO, and Margaret E. Deery of Cambridge, MA, as well as two granddaughters Katherine B. Carpenter, Elizabeth Deery, and grandson Alexander Deery. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the Poughkeepsie Friends Meeting, 249 Hooker Avenue, on June 20, 2015 at 2 pm, followed by a reception and light refreshments. Donations to go to the Poughkeepsie Friends Meeting.

Collier, Edward R.  
Edward R. Collier Milan, NY - Edward Robert Collier, of Milan, NY, longtime resident of Westchester County, died Thursday, May 28, 2015 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was 85. Edward was born April 9, 1930 in New Rochelle, NY to the late Joseph A. Collier and Grace Duncan. He married the late Shirley Collier (Galasso) and worked as a Water Treatment Operator at the Westchester County Environmental Control in Rye for 39 years. Surviving are his three children Barbara Tobin, Lynn (John) Gallagher, Jay (Ann Marie) and his five grandchildren David, Joshua and Cody Gallagher, and Maggie and Shane Collier. Also surviving are his sister Helen Collier and brother Jerry (Pauline) Duncan. He was predeceased by his son in law Thomas Tobin, his step-father Harold Duncan, his brothers Joe Collier, Freddie, Frankie and Charlie Duncan, and his sister Grace (Sis) Collier (Murphy). Edward liked hunting and fishing with his son Jay. He loved being outdoors and could always be found working on some project or reading a book at his house on Spring Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 1, 2015 at 10:00AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church in West Harrison. Friends may call Sunday May 31, 2015, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue at South Broadway, White Plains. Interment will be in the White Plains Rural Cemetery.

Maria A. Crosby Poughkeepsie, NY - Maria A. Crosby, 52 of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on May 22, 2015 at The Joe Raso Hospice Residence in Rockland County. Born on August 14, 1962 she was the daughter of the late Cleveland Crosby and Mattie Helen Love. She loved Arts and Crafts. Maria is survived by her children; Robert Crosby, Natasha Payne, Nicole Crosby all of Poughkeepsie and Arnold Crosby of Chicago; her siblings Willie Paul Walker of Wisconsin; Louise Crosby of Hudson, NY; Cleveland Crosby Jr., and Lee Crosby of Chicago; her grandchildren; Jovon Crosby of New Jersey; Harmony Marie Crosby and Tej Gasperino both of Poughkeepsie; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sister Grace Crosby, brother Charles Walker, granddaughter Arielle Miller, stepmom Elizabeth Wells and nephew Robert Multrie. Visitation will be held on Thursday June 4, 2015 from 10am to 11am at the Faith Apostolic Ministry @ 109 Cannon St. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Funeral services will begin at 11am with Pastor Kamorah Wray officiating. Burial will follow at New Paltz Rural Cemetery, New Paltz, NY. Arrangements have been entrusted to Joseph J. Decker, Linda  
Linda Jean Decker Dover Plains - Linda J. Decker, 66, a resident of Dover Plains, NY passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Linda was born on October 13, 1948 in Rhinebeck, NY. She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Ruth (Cronk) Bowman. She attended Poughkeepsie City Schools. Linda worked at the Dutchess County Infirmary in Millbrook, NY for over 20 years as a CNA, Lutheran Care Center, and Dutchess Center for Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Pawling, NY for 10 plus years until October 2010. Linda loved her flower gardening and birds of all kinds. She loved her family unconditionally, mostly enjoyed the fun times, and constant love and respect showed from her grandson Sean and his family. She is survived by her children: Linda (Paul) Vaillancourt, Sharon Decker, Rebecca Decker, and Michael Decker, Jr.; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister, Christine Hudson; and a niece, Kimberly Canino. Linda was predeceased by her loving husband of many years, Michael (Butch) Decker, Sr. Visitation is Monday, June 1, 2015, 5-7 PM at the Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home, 39 So.
