Bruce T. Garrity
MOHAVE VALLEY, AZ - Bruce T. Garrity, age 75, a 31 year resident of Mohave Valley, died Wednesday, July 30, 2013, with his loving family by his side, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Bruce was born April 10, 1938 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He joined the US Navy
at 18, and did shore patrol for four years. Bruce met the love of his life, Monema Perkins in September of 1965 and married June 25, 1966. Bruce was one of the first EMT'S certified in New York State and worked for Alamo Ambulance. He joined Croft Corners Fire Dept in Arlington, New York in 1969 and was active until 1978 when his family moved to Lake Havasu City Ariz., then moved upriver to Mohave Valley. He was hired in 1989 by the Mohave Valley Fire Dept. and was active until retirement in 2003. Bruce was a member of the Mohave Search and Rescue for many years and Mohave Lodge since 2003.
Bruce became a 3rd degree Mason on April 13, 2003, and joined the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a charter member of the Order of the Amaranth, Las Vegas, NV.
Bruce loved to target practice and travel.
Bruce was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret and brother; Joseph Loeser.
Bruce is survived by his wife of forty seven years, Monema Garrity of Mohave Valley, AZ, daughter, Brenna and her husband John, and granddaughter Gabrielle Poffenbarger who was the love of his life of Hampton, VA.; his son Patrick Garrity of Mohave Valley, AZ; sister, Linda Rogers of Poughkeepsie, NY, and sister, Mary Raymo-Connors, of Hyde Park, NY.
The family would like to thank the Salvation Army, Hospice Compassus, and Mohave Valley Fire Dept. for their kindness and support.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Shrine Club 2580 Miracle Mile BHC, AZ.
