Catherine Brower Borkowski

Poughkeepsie - Catherine Brower Borkowski, 95, of Poughkeepsie passed away on February 23, 2012 at The Pines of Poughkeepsie Nursing Home in Poughkeepsie. A lifelong local resident, she was a member of St. Peter's Church for over 75 years. She volunteered for many years with the former Dutchess County March of Dimes and co-chaired the annual Miles of Dimes Walk. Born Friday, October 13, 1916, she was the daughter of Ann Hults Brower and William Brower. On January 4, 1942 she married Chester J. Borkowski at St. Peter's Church in Poughkeepsie. Mr. Borkowski predeceased his wife on July 9, 1987. Mrs. Borkowski is survived by her daughter Pauline Borkowski Dittrich, her granddaughter Paula Renee' Dittrich, her grandson Christian G. Dittrich and his wife Karen Schmenkel Dittrich. She is also survived by her great granddaughter Alexandra Catherine Dittrich, whom she adored dearly and was so proud of. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her granddaughter Catherine Theresa Dittrich, her brother Clarence "Pete" Brower and sister-in-law Margret Puff Brower. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 299 Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie, NY with Father Robert Garisto officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery. As per Mrs. Borkowski's wishes there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to The March of Dimes and The Dutchess County Chapter of the . Arrangements are under the direction of the William G.
