Clemente Alves
Lagrangeville - Clemente M. Alves, 67, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center with the love of his family around him. Born in Portugal on April 8, 1947, he was the son of the late Horacio and Maria (Medeiros) Alves. On September 23, 1972, in Portugal, he married his best friend and love Maria (Goretti) Alves who survives at home. Clemente served in the Portuguese Army. A master craftsman with his own business, he put his heart and soul into everything he touched. In addition, he was also a devoted parishioner at St. Kateri Church.
In addition to his loving wife of almost 42 years, Clemente is survived by his sons, Nelson Alves and his wife Christine of Hopewell Junction, Ceasar Alves and his fiancée Jennifer Sczerba of Newburgh; Donny Alves and wife Amanda Alves of Pleasant Valley; his grandchildren, Dylan, Nelson, Jonah and Landon; his siblings, Mario Alves and his wife Saraphina, Gabriella Alkves, Manuela Mendes and her husband Tony; and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his son, Richard Alves on July 1, 2001 and his brother, Horacio.
As a husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will always be deep within our hearts forever. We will always remember his smile, laughter and the gentle man that we were so privileged to have in our lives.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 - 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 10 am at Saint Kateri Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville followed by burial at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
