Edward O. Curry, Jr.
Peekskill - Edward O. Curry, Jr., 96 years old, a life-long resident of Peekskill, passed away November 17, 2012. He was born March 19, 1916, the son of the late Edward O. Curry & Margaret Puff. Ed served in the United States Navy
as a pharmacist mate 1st Class from 1943-1945. He was a member of the VFW
and American Legion Post of Peekskill, and the Boca-Delray Navy League. Ed was a charter member of the Kiwanis Club of Peekskill, and a member of the Odd Fellows of Peekskill. Also a longtime member of the Cortlandt Hook & Ladder Co. 1 of Peekskill; and the United Methodist Church of Peekskill. On September 14, 1940, he married R. Miriam Irwin, who predeceased him on January 6, 2008. He has been a licensed funeral director
and embalmer since 1937, and has been associated with the E.O. Curry Funeral Home, the family-owned business for 75 years. Ed is survived by his son and daughter: Edward O. (Mary) Curry, 3rd and Nancy (Neal) Townsend. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Paul, Ryan (Kasia), Jill Curry, and Glenn (Cathleen) Townsend and Meredith (Ryan) Travelpiece; and a great-granddaughter Cadence Miriam Townsend. He was also predeceased by his brother William H. Curry. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 20th from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the E.O. Curry Funeral Home, Peekskill, where the Funeral Services will be held 11am, Wednesday, November 21st followed by interment in Hillside Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor.
