HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA - Elisabeth Ferretti, 86, entered into eternal rest on July 31, 2013 in Huntington Beach, CA. Her final days were spent surrounded by family. She was a resident of LaGrangeville since 1973 and formerly of Queens.
Born on March 6, 1927 in Sens, France, she came to the United States in 1947. She was the daughter of the late Henri and Marthe Saffroy and the youngest of 13 children.
Elisabeth married the love of her life on February 18, 1951 in Westbury and remained devoted to him. Louis Robert Ferretti died on May 12, 2012.
Elisabeth had a love of music and nature. She enjoyed traveling and had a love of the outdoors. Elisabeth had extraordinary knowledge of geography and an impressive library. One of her fondest memories was a trip to Alaska. She also found pleasure in simply observing the change of seasons and wildlife at her home in Lagrangeville. She was devoted to her family and was a faithful Catholic parishioner. Through her love and generous spirit, she supported many charitable causes.
Elisabeth had been employed as a supervisor and retired from the Harlem Valley State Hospital in Wassaic.
She is survived by her children: Helen Smelser of Ohio, Steven J. Ferretti of LaGrangeville, Henry M. Ferretti and his wife Carol of Hyde Park and Michael P. Ferretti and his wife Michelle of California. A son, Louis R. Ferretti, predeceased her on March 25, 1993. She is also survived by her sister, Mikki, of Paris, France. She will be remembered lovingly by grandchildren, Jean Smelser of Ohio, Matt Ferretti of Montana, Michael Ferretti and his wife Tiffany of Florida; Nickolas Ferretti, Casara Ferretti Lerario and her husband Michael, Alexandra Ferretti and her fiancée Daniel Halas, and Anthony Ferretti of New York ; Michelle Allen and her husband Chris, Laura Zellmer and her husband Weston, and Joseph Ferretti of California; and three great-grandchildren, Madeline and Mitchell Ferretti of Florida and Christopher Thomas Ziegler of Ohio. A grandson, Justin Smelser, predeceased her on May 10, 1992.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 12pm at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction. Interment will follow in St. Denis Cemetery.
