Poughkeepsie - Fred Martin McClinton departed this earthly life for his heavenly home on Monday, August 18, 2014. He was 68 years old. He was born April 19, 1946 to the late Bishops Mack B. and Addie B. McClinton, in Bronx, New York and raised by his maternal grandparents Jack and Leola Martin in Carthage, North Carolina. Fred graduated from Pickney High School in Carthage. On March 7, 1966 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. After his tour of duty he was honorably discharged and later served in the U.S. Army Reserve. Fred was employed by IBM Poughkeepsie and retired after 30 years of service. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service and Astor Children's Home. Fred accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Personal Savior in 1991 and was a member of Holy Light Pentecostal Church. Later he was ordained as a Deacon and served faithfully as Chairman of the Deacon's Board for several years. He also served as former President of the Usher Board, Sexton, Van Driver, Trustee Board member, and sang with the Senior Choir and The Righteous Brothers.

Deacon McClinton leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Jennifer E. McClinton, his sons, Fred Jr. of Rochester, NY, Fred Martin McClinton, Kyle McClinton, Joseph McClinton, Benson McClinton (Florentine), and Clayton Porter all of Poughkeepsie, NY; 4 daughters, Danielle S. McClinton of Poughkeepsie, NY, Hope McClinton-Epps (Anthony) of Atlanta, GA, Janay Thompson, Asia McClinton both of New York, NY, God-daughter Sonya Robinson of Endicott, MD, 14 grandchildren and his siblings; Lawrence McClinton (Carol) of Milledgeville, GA, Doris A. Milburn, Sylvia Green (Roland) of Poughkeepsie, NY, Bishop Audrey E. Giles of Beacon, NY, Phyllis Harris (Theodore), Apostle Debra E. Gause (George), Patricia Smith (Randy), Marvin McClinton all of Poughkeepsie, and Beverly Moore of Philadelphia, PA, stepfamily, Launcelot Hill of Queens, NY, Bobby and Roy Watterson both of Poughkeepsie, stepsisters, Marcia Roberts, Savona Hill Roberts, Yolanda Stephens, Marilyn Faircloth, Patricia Jones and Phee Simpson all of Poughkeepsie; his sister-in-law, Barbra Baker-Baylor (James Reginald) and brother-in-law, Woodrow Baker Jr. of Poughkeepsie, God-sisters, Pastor Dollyann Newkirk-Briggs of Highland, NY, Pastor Dawn Snell of Stamford, CT, Sharlene Stout of Beacon, NY, Patricia Robinson of Albuquerque, NM, and Karen Tucker of PA. He also leaves to cherish several Godchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Bishops Mack B. and Addie B. McClinton, his mother and father-in-law, Reverends Woodrow and Barbara Baker, his siblings, brothers, Jethro Marsh, Fred Goins and Charles McClinton and sister, Missionary Beatrice Brown, stepbrother, William Muse and stepsisters, Jocelyn Hill and Geneva Johnson.

Mr. McClinton will lay in repose 6-8 pm Sunday, August 24th Beulah Baptist Church, 92 Catharine Street, Poughkeepsie, NY. Funeral Services 11 am Monday, August 25th at Beulah Baptist with visitation 10-11 am. Bishop Debra E. Gause Officiating.
