Gerald C. "Jerry" Reiners

EAST FISHKILL - Gerald C. "Jerry" Reiners, 76, an area resident for over 50 years and formerly of Staten Island, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Staten Island on November 13, 1936, he was the son of the late Joseph C. and Dorothy (Scudder) Reiners. He was a graduate of Tottenville High School in Staten Island. On August 19, 1962 at the United Methodist Church in Wappingers Falls, Jerry married Anita L. White. Jerry and Anita celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past August.

Jerry was employed as the Service manager at WH Jackson Auto Sales in Ossining for over 25 years until his retirement in 1999. He proudly served our country in the US Air Force from 1954-1958 where he was stationed in Cut Bank, MT and Azores, Spain.

Jerry liked going to car shows and building model trains. He also repaired boats at White's Marina for many years. Most of all, he enjoyed camping in his RV with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by his children, Lisa Cleary and her husband William of Poughkeepsie, Robin Reiners-Bajcar and her husband Scott of Wappingers Falls, and Debra Olivet and her husband John of Marvin, NC; his grandchildren, Keri Cleary, Sal Olivet, Andrea Olivet, Kacey Bajcar, Zachary Bajcar, Seth Bajcar, and Joshua Bajcar; his mother-in-law, Eleanor L. White; his nieces and nephews; and his dogs, who were his buddies, Katie and Scamp. Jerry was also predeceased by his brother, Joseph "Jay" Reiners.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 am at the funeral home followed by interment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Avenue, Poughkeepsie.
