Poughkeepsie, NY - Giuseppina Giammatteo, 101, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away Monday, February 04, 2013 at Lutheran Care Center. Giuseppina was born October 2, 1911 in Alife, Italy the daughter of the late Rafael Sanitti and Marcellina Amato. She was a homemaker and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie.

On February 2, 1929 she married Nicolino Giammetteo in Alfie, Italy. Mr. Giammatteo passed away on November 13, 1986. Giuseppina is survived by her son John Giammatteo and his wife Linda of Poughkeepsie, Son in law Dario DiVito of Poughkeepsie, Granddaughters Regina Delaney and husband Michael of Auburn, NY, Joanna Greco and husband Angelo of Poughkeepsie, Jennifer Giammatteo of Poughkeepsie. She is also survived by her sister Anna Sanitti DiFranco of Italy, 3 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her three children John Giammatteo, Enrichetta Giammatteo and Filomena Di Vito.

Calling hours will take place on Thursday, February 7th from 4PM-8PM at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 218 Mill Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Wheelchair entrance is located in the rear of the funeral home off Vassar Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am, Friday February 8th at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie, with burial to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Giuseppina's name may be made to Mount Carmel Church, 11 Mt. Carmel Place, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
