Harold Kinney(1925 - 2013)

Harold W. "Chuck" Kinney

Amenia - Harold W. "Chuck" Kinney - 87, a longtime resident of Amenia, NY, died Monday, April 15, 2013 at Noble Horizons in Salisbury, CT with family by his side. Born September 4, 1925 in Poughkeepsie, NY, he was the son of the late Roswell P. and Flora L. (Julius) Kinney. Mr. Kinney grew up on the Kinney family farm in Millbrook, NY and attended local schools.

Mr. Kinney honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. In June of 1968 in Glassboro, NJ, he married Nancy L. Dillon. Mrs. Kinney died October 26, 2011. Mr. Kinney was a lineman for Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. for over 33 years retiring in May of 1987. After his retirement he worked at Segalla Country Club in Amenia, NY, as a golf course ranger for many years.

Mr. Kinney was a member of the Amenia Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, a former Town of Amenia Assessor and a past member of the Amenia Fire Company. He enjoyed reading and playing golf and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his brothers, George Kinney of Amenia, NY, Paul Kinney of Cary, NC, several nieces and nephews and close relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and his wife he was predeceased by his brothers, Howard Kinney and Roswell P. "Babe" Kinney, Jr.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home, 37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Route 22 and Lavelle Road, Amenia, NY 12501 with the Rev. Kent Wilson officiating. Burial with full military honors will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Cobble Road, Salisbury, CT following the funeral mass.
