James Clark Obituary

James H. Clark

Hopewell Junction - James Clark, a long-time resident of Wiccopee, NY, died November 1, 2012. He was 80 years old. James, known as Jim, is remembered by his family and friends as soft-spoken and a man of few words, yet whose depth of character spoke volumes about who he was as a man, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a caring grandfather. Jim was born August 29, 1932 and was the son of the late Amanda and Roy Clark.

Jim was a Professional Engineer and worked for IBM for 32 years. While working for IBM, Jim had assignments in Germany and Canada, which were some of the happiest times in his life. During his foreign assignments, he enjoyed spending time with his wife as they traveled and bicycled together. He also was skilled at carpentry and masonry and was quite the handyman, doing many renovations on his home. After retirement he worked part-time at Enterprise, starting in 2008, and developed many new friendships that he enjoyed. He was an active member of the Fishkill United Methodist Church and did much volunteering for the church.

Jim had many accomplishments in his life, but nothing made him more proud than his family and being a good husband and father. His family remembers him as a steady force in their lives who always could be depended on and whose warm smile and subtle sense of humor touched their lives.

He is survived by his wife Martha, to whom he was married for 60 years, his daughter Karen Clark and Brian Monroe, his son Steve Clark and Beth Shewell and her children Luke and Cole, his son Bob Clark and his wife Kelly, his two grandchildren Jay Clark and Annette Clark, and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother, Roy Clark, Jr.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 10 at 11 a.m. at the Fishkill United Methodist Church, 38 Broad Street, Fishkill, NY 12524. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made, in Jim's memory, to the Fishkill United Methodist Church or the East Fishkill Rescue Squad, 2502 Route 52, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main St., Fishkill, NY. For Jim's guestbook or to send the family an online condolence, please visit www.hudsonvalleyfuneralhomes.com
