James Matthew Tully
Raleigh NC - James Matthew Tully, age 44 of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on March 8th, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer. Jimmy was born and raised in Poughkeepsie. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1986 and was a chef who graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1990.
Jimmy was an avid Mets and Jets fan and loved being a chef. He shared his gift for the culinary arts with his family and friends and was happiest preparing meals for his loved ones. He worked in various restaurants in New York and North Carolina.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter Zhaya Kathleen Tully, who resides in North Carolina, and his father William Joseph Tully Sr. of Georgia. Jimmy was a beloved little brother to Mary Tully Finch and husband Robert of Poughkeepsie, Susan Tully Tooker of Pleasant Valley, William Joseph Tully Jr. of Juneau, Alaska, Michael Tully of Germany, Anne Tully of Atlanta, Georgia, Kathleen Tully and Chris Vegeto of Hudson, NY, and Margaret Tully and John Lowe of Poughkeepsie.
He was a proud, loving uncle to Elizabeth Hoffman and her husband Jonathan, Patty, Sarah, Kelsey, and Connor Finch, Lynda, Andrew, and Jared Tooker, Chatham Tully, James Barrenger and his wife Marie, Jennifer Barrenger, Jahnna Margaret Tully, Mary Mashburn and her husband Paul, Meghan Phillips and Sam Camblin, and Shane Tully. He was an amazing great uncle to the many children of his nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was predeceased by his mother Mary Elizabeth Hannon Tully and his loving sister Patricia. Jimmy will be missed by so many. He had a great heart, an awesome sense of humor, and a special way about him that made him "everyone's little brother".
A memorial mass will be held in Jimmy's honor on April 20th, 2013 at Holy Trinity Church at 10:00 AM, with a celebration of his life to follow at Germania. All family and friends are welcome. Donations in Jimmy's honor may be made to his daughter Zhaya's college fund in care of John Lowe, PO Box 133 Milton, NY 12547.
