John L. Supple

Fishkill - John L. Supple, a longtime area resident passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh. He was 88.

John was born in Beacon on April 3, 1925, the son of Leo and Francena Simmonds Supple. John married the former Nancy Breen on September 4, 1949. Mrs. Supple predeceased John on July 1, 2013. John worked as an attorney at law and was a partner at Lyons and Supple in Beacon. Before he worked as an attorney John was a public accountant. John proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II. He was in the Seabees and later a photographers mate in the Navy. John was a member of the Southern Dutchess Country Club where he was an avid golfer, a member of the Elks Club Lodge 1493 in Beacon, a member of the Dutchess County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. John was a world traveler and loved the beach, especially sailing at Long Beach Island, New Jersey.

John is survived by his children, Gregory D. Supple and his wife, Lisa of Hopewell Junction, John L. Supple, Jr. and his wife, Karen of Pleasant Valley, Roderick A. Supple and his wife, Sharon of Hopewell Junction and Paul B. Supple and his wife, Theresa of Fishkill; his son-in-law, Mark Sullivan of Ramsey, New Jersey; his grandchildren, Michelle and Daniel Supple, Caitlain Kummer, Patrick and Brian Sullivan, Kara Marie Supple and Kelsey Supple, Ryan and Alicia Supple, Evan and Aaron Supple; his great grandchildren, Matthew, Isabella and Michael; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, he was predeceased by his daughter, Francena Lee Sullivan; his sister, Mary Robillard; and his brother, David Supple.

The family will receive their friends on Friday, July 26, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 27 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill.

Interment with military honors will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.

Memorial donations in memory of John may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 144, P.O. Box 421, Castle Point, New York 12511.
