BEEKMAN - Joseph M. Cascioli, Sr., 75, quietly passed away at home on Monday, July 15, 2013 with his family by his side. He had been an area resident since 1983.
Joseph was born in Yonkers on May 6, 1938, the son of the late Jean and Joe Cascioli.
In 1958, he enlisted in the U.S. Army
and served in the signal corps where he was stationed in Germany during the Berlin Crisis. He was honored and proud to serve his country. In 2002, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 32 years of service. Joe was a member of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church in LaGrangeville and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Beekman Senior Center where he enjoyed many wonderful parties. It gave him great joy spending time there and he loved all of the new friendships he made.
On July 2, 1972 in the Bronx, Joseph married the love of his life, Margaret Riello, who survives at home. He is survived by his sons: Joseph Cascioli, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Hopewell Junction, and Anthony Cascioli and his wife Vanessa of Poughkeepsie; his three beautiful grandsons, Michael, Anthony, and Brady who all have enriched his life more than they will ever know; his brothers, Richard from Nyack and Eugene from Putnam Valley; his sister Rita D'Amore from Mahopac; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville, followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
