Kathy Ashline

Kathy A. Ashline

Poughkeepsie - Kathy Anne Ashline, "Kitty Kat", 57, passed away peacefully at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on April 21, 2012 with loving staff from her Dutchess ARC family at her side, along with her best friends Cindy and Freda. Kathy made her home with Dutchess ARC for nearly 20 years and, with her infectious smile and delightful giggle, she created a world for herself full of love, giving and receiving. She loved to color with her orange crayons (her favorite color for everything) to draw and write; to dance with her longtime boyfriend, who lovingly held her hand whenever he had the chance; her birthday, celebrating with her favorite meal of mashed potatoes, meatloaf and NO vegetables; the sun and would announce "Suns out!" for anyone nearby to hear. Kathy lived in a variety of Dutchess ARC homes over the years and, with each move, the number of peers and staff who loved her increased. Due to ill health, Kathy made her home at The Pines of Poughkeepsie for the past year. She was, again, well loved and cared for by the staff there, especially Deidre. Special thanks to the staff of Vassar Brothers Medical Center and The Pines of Poughkeepsie for the care and respect they showed Kathy. Kathy was predeceased by her parents Randell and Katherine Ashline and her aunt Margaret Keyes, with whom she lived for many years. She was also predeceased by numerous friends and loved ones. Kathy, "Kitty Kat" leaves behind to mourn her loss, but celebrate her love - her Dutchess ARC family of staff, peers and volunteers. She was a gift to us all and her mere presence could light up a room. She is now an angel among angels. Please join us to celebrate Kathy's life and her new found freedom from illness and suffering. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 10:00am - 1:00pm at the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A service will be held immediately following visitation. Burial will follow at New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
