Marvin E. "Earl" Woods

POUGHKEEPSIE - Marvin E. "Earl" Woods, 90, passed way September 25, 2013 at home in Poughkeepsie. He was born on March 18, 1923 in Evansville, IN. On June 24, 1956 he married Isabelle L. Olivo at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. She predeceased him on August 10, 2006. Marvin was a self-employed home improvement contractor in Poughkeepsie. He served in the US Army during WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of VFW Post#170. Marvin was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed the track in his spare time. He is survived by his son Eugene E. Galvin of Poughkeepsie; daughter-in-law Debra G. Galvin of Southport, NC; grandchildren Gregory & LaTanya Galvin, Kimberly Galvin, Bryan Galvin, Kristen Galvin; great-grandchildren Danika, Rylee and Tyler; niece Jane & John Bunt and their children Michael & Kelly and his beloved cat "Woody". Marvin was predeceased by his sisters Sue and Juanita, his brothers Harold, Perry & Victor and his sister-in-law Alice Olivo. A Memorial Service will be held at Interfaith Towers, 66 Washington Street, Poughkeepsie, NY on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 1PM. A Graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 11:00am at St. Peter's Cemetery in Poughkeepsie. Arrangements are under the direction of Wm. G.
