Hyde Park - Michael Louise Elterich, 64, a Hyde Park resident for over forty-five years formerly of Ogdensburg, NY, died Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, Newburgh.

Born in Cali, Columbia on November 7, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lillie G. Gundersen Kopita. She graduated from F.D. Roosevelt High School, Hyde Park and Dutchess Community College with an Associate's Degree in Accounting.

Mrs. Elterich was a Bookkeeper with D'Arcangelo & Co. Certified Public Accountants in Poughkeepsie for thirteen years.

She was a former member of the Hyde Park Reformed Dutch Church.

Michael enjoyed many interests; boating throughout the state with her husband and son, creating beautiful stained glass lamps and other projects gifted to her grateful family and friends, and caring for her beloved pets.

On February 14, 1976 in Hyde Park, she married Donald W. Elterich. They renewed their marriage vows on November 20, 2012. Mr. Elterich survives at home.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Donald W. Elterich Jr. of Hyde Park; grandson, Joshua Elterich of Hyde Park; two brothers, Frank Kopita and wife, Ann, of Shingle Springs, CA, and Paul Kopita and wife, Claire, of Plattsburgh; special friends, Susan Morris of California, and Judy White of Florida; and cousin, Pam Takasch of Trumbull, Conn.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her father-in-law, Wilbur J. Elterich.

There are no calling hours. In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to extend thanks to the dedicated staff that cared for Michael at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence. Their compassion and care were a comfort to all.

In lieu of flowers, Michael's family respectfully suggests memorial donations to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538.
