Philippe Alcide Thibault
PLEASANT VALLEY - Philippe Alcide Thibault, 50, of Pleasant Valley passed away at MidHudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center on June 5, 2014, after a sudden and unexpected accident. He was born in Couvron (Aisne), France, on November 2, 1963, to Claudine (Cochet) and Roland Thibault. Philippe married Ann Garrison on September 10, 1994, and was the proud father of Matthew, Julien, and Nathaniel. Phil studied geography and GIS and received his doctorate from the University of Minnesota
. He worked as a GIS Project Leader at Dutchess County OCIS for many years, where he led the county's GIS efforts. Phil shared credit with his coworkers, who quickly became his friends. He was the designer and programmer of the county's Parcel Access application and part of a web team that won a top 10 best county website for many years. Phil was an adjunct professor in the geography department at Vassar College.
Phil was always willing to lend a hand and he never shied away from a challenge. He measured his days by his accomplishments (and his practical jokes) and could often be found in his barn working on one of his many projects. Phil was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His legacy includes his children, his projects, and the networks of friends and family who love and miss him. Along with Ann and the boys, Phil is survived by his parents, his grandmother, Irene Thibault, his brother, Patrick, and his sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Glenn Reynolds. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Margaret Garrison, Steven and Karen Garrison, Mary and Neil Herman, Robert and Jenny Garrison, Peter and Nancy Garrison, and Beth Garrison, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 15, from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Monday, June 16, at St. Peter's Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, 185 Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie, with Father James Garisto officiating.
