Poughkeepsie - Robert A. Gallagher, 83, of Poughkeepsie, NY died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born in Poughkeepsie on July 21, 1929 he was the son of the late John J. and Margaret Doran Gallagher. Robert served in the US Army during the Korean War. Robert was a City of Poughkeepsie Firefighter, retiring after 41 years. He married Mary "Marie" H. Randall at the Nativity Church on February 20, 1954 and she survives him at home. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Timothy and Judy Gallagher of Milwaukee, WI, his brother Joseph Gallagher of Poughkeepsie, as well as his grandchildren Sean and Ian and several nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his son Kevin P. Gallagher and his two brothers Thomas and Jack Gallagher. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 9:30am at St. Joseph's Church, Lafayette Pl. Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery with Military Honors.
