Roy A. Boesch
Hyde Park - Hyde Park - The angels came and took Roy Andrew Boesch, 81, to Heaven as he was surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, April 7th at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
Born on August 3, 1931 in Woodhaven, NY, he was the son of the late Germain and Christine Pocher Boesch.
He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Korean War
Roy worked at IBM, Poughkeepsie as a Project Manager until 1986. In his retirement, he worked for Hertz Corporation until 2011.
An avid sports fan, Roy was always following the sport of the season. He was a devoted New York Mets fan his entire life. He loved his snacks and was affectionately called "The Pantry Boy". Roy also had a great love for doing crossword puzzles every day. He was a little league coach for many years. He also loved bowling and once achieved a perfect 300 game.
A devout Catholic, Roy was a communicant of St. Peter's Parish in Hyde Park.
Roy will be most remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who devoted his life to enjoying time with his family.
He married Barbara Dreybus on February 1, 1958, in the Bellmont Abbey in North Carolina. His wife, Barbara, survives at home.
In addition to his loving wife, Roy is survived by three children, Jeanne Buckley-Ball and husband, Tim, of Poughkeepsie, Bill Boesch and fiancée, Mary Pironti, of Highland, and Chrissy Gomory and husband, Kristopher, of Naples, Florida.
He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Lauren Buckley and her fiancé, Alex Keegan, Nicole Buckley, Bryan Boesch and his fiancée, Elena, Eric Boesch, Jesse Gomory, Jason Gomory, Katie Boesch, and Emily Boesch.
His sister, Therese Boesch, survives in Poughkeepsie.
There are no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James A. Garisto at 10am Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 299 Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie.
Entombment will follow in the Our Lady of the Holy Souls Mausoleum at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
In lieu of flowers, Roy's family respectfully requests memorial donations to the St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Memphis, TN 38148.
