Cold Spring, NY - Sara "Sally" Peparo, age 95 of Cold Spring, passed away peacefully in the early evening of March 2, 2013 with her family by her side. Born in Cold Spring, NY on December 15, 1917, the daughter of the late Oraizo James and Helen Irene (Delsantri) Peparo.

A devoted member of Our Lady of Loretto Parish, Sara graduated from the Loretto Catholic School in 1930 and Haldane High School in 1934. Sally enlisted in the women's army corps in 1943. She served in the Pacific theater in 1944. While overseas, she had the pleasure meeting her brother Charles, who was also abroad serving in the United States Army. Sally achieved the rank of a tech. four sergeant while in the army. Upon her return to the states, she began work as a law clerk at Boal, McQude, and Fitzpatrick Law offices while living in Jersey City from 1949-1981.

Once Sally retired, she returned to her hometown of Cold Spring. She spent her retirement volunteering at the Foundry Museum and the Carolyn Lahey Pavilion. Sally was an avid fan of the New York Mets, the Army football team, bingo, and the slot machines in Atlantic City. Throughout her life, Sally enjoyed traveling and was able to visit 48 states via car as well as many countries throughout the world.

Her parents, James and Helen, brothers Anthony and Charles, sister Florence and one nephew Paul Nolan Jr predeceased Sally. She is survived by nephews Michael Peparo, James Nolan, Mark Nolan, and nieces Maria Nolan and Dorothy Gilman. Sally also leaves behind her loving great nieces and nephews Josiah, Kristen, Helen, Ryan Peparo and Pierce Nolan. Kind and generous to all, Sally made many friends throughout the course of a life well lived. Sally will be remembered and missed by all that knew her.

A mass of the Christian burial will be held 10 AM, Thursday, March 7, 2013 at our Lady of Loretto Church 24 Fair Street Cold Spring, NY 10516. Interment will follow in the Cold Spring cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Clinton Funeral Corner of Parrott & Pine Streets (21 Parrott Street) Cold Spring, NY 10516 on Wednesday March 6th from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9PM. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in Sally Peparo's name to the Blue Devils Booster Club P.O. Box 356 Cold Spring NY 10516.
