ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Sylvio D'Amato, 88, died in Saint Petersburg, Fl on Monday, January 21, 2013. Born in Bronx NY, September 28, 1924, he was the son of the late Severino D'Amato and Carmela Villanova. Sylvio proudly served his country during WW II in the US Army.

Mr. D'Amato was a subcontracted Chemical Engineer that worked for many companies including General Electric. He was a man with a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.

Sylvio is survived by two of his sisters, Christine Kohli and Rosalie Moscatello, both of upstate New York, as well as many nieces' nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Abatecola. Calling hours will be held Monday, January 28th from 4-8 PM at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 38 Main Street, Highland, NY 12528. A funeral home service will be held Tuesday, January 29th 10:00 am at the funeral home, followed by burial in St. Denis Cemetery, Beekman Rd, Hopewell Junction, NY.

In lieu of flowers, Sylvio's family respectfully suggests memorial donations to the Ulster County SPCA, 20 Wiedy Rd, Kingston, NY 12401.
