Hyde Park - Thomas A. "Tommy" Alexander, 74, of Hyde Park, died peacefully at home on Sunday, March 3, 2013. He was born August 12, 1938 in Poughkeepsie and was the son of the late Herbert W. and Sarah Jane Williamson Alexander.
Tommy was a member of the Hopewell Reformed Church; a Life Member of the Poughkeepsie Elks Lodge
#275; a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #137, retiring in 1997, and a member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by a daughter, Tammy Sue; three sons, Thomas R., Shane T., and Seth T. Alexander. He is also survived by a brother, Eugene Dougherty; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, along with his fiancé and long-time companion, Gabriele Davenport. He was predeceased by a daughter, Minda Lou Alexander, who passed away on June 8, 1969. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Herbert W., Robert and John Alexander and three sisters, Edith Rudolph, Flo Richardson and Dorothy Hein and three nephews, Brian and James Alexander and Gilbert Hein.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park, NY 12538.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 12 - 2 p.m. at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 900 Rt. 82, Hopewell Junction, NY, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. Interment will be private at the discretion of the family.
