FREDERICKSBURG, VA - Thomas (Tommy) M. McCabe, 61, formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY, most recently of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. He must have wanted to spend New Year's Day with his heavenly family which includes his late father Richard; mother Joan, and brother Michael. Tommy was born on October 4, 1952 in Poughkeepsie, NY, to Richard R. and Joan A. (Hoffman) McCabe.

He attended Poughkeepsie high School before enlisting in the United States Navy. He served his country with great pride aboard both the USS Wasp and USS Intrepid air craft carriers. Tom was devoted to his Christian faith, as a teenager he even aspired to be a priest. He always enjoyed attending services and led many bible study classes in his home. Tom started his work career as a chef and managed several restaurants throughout NY. He was a member of the National American Legion and a disabled Veteran. Tom had a passion for fishing, horse racing and pinochle. He was an accomplished bowler and struggling golfer. He will forever be remembered as a "gentle giant". His transition into heaven was made easier with the love he received from his wife of nearly two years Debbie.

Tom is survived by his wife Deborah (Stead) McCabe of Fredericksburg, VA, his three daughters; Janis, Kaylee and Heather of Rochester, NY, his brothers John (Janet) of Hyde Park, NY and Patrick of Perrysburg, OH, two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
