Fayiz Hilal Obituary
Poughkeepsie - Fayiz K. Hilal, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie since 1967, died peacefully with his family around him on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 75.
Son of the late Kamel and Alice Kanawati Hilal, he was born July 11, 1940 in Cairo, Egypt. He married the former Marie Sayour at the Church of the Virgin Mary on January 29, 1967 in Brooklyn. Mrs. Hilal survives at home in Poughkeepsie.
Mr. Hilal remained active in business and was the founder and CEO of Cetek Technologies. He was able to support local families through employment; often hiring whole families, as well as support numerous charities. Mr. Hilal was a parishioner of St. Martin de Porres Church in Poughkeepsie where he was also a quiet benefactor of both the church and the school. Most importantly, he will be remembered for his dedication to his family. His love and devotion will never be forgotten by those that knew him.
In addition to his wife of forty-eight years, he is survived by his children, Christopher Hilal and his wife, Patti of Hopewell Junction, John Hilal of Poughkeepsie, David Hilal and his wife, Megan of Oakton, Virginia, and Bridget Hilal and her companion, Mr. Dana Mellerio of McLean, Virginia; his sister, Mimi Kosseim and her husband, Alex; his brother, Adel Hilal; his six grandchildren, Adam, Kaleigh, Justin, Katie, Erin and Kristen Hilal; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Dr. Sadek Hilal and Ghanem Hilal.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 6 at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road in Poughkeepsie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Fayiz Hilal.

I am saddened to learn of the loss of such a wonderful man. I worked for him when I was a teenager and learned a great deal from him. My condolences to the Hilal family. I have known Fayiz for the past 10 years, being employed to oversee his company, HTI in NJ. What started out as an employee -boss relationship ended up as a friendship. Visiting him at the Pines during his rehabilitation was a very enjoyable day for myself and 3 other Employees from HTI that were close to him. We are saddened that our prayers were not answered for his recovery. God bless him. May he rest in peace.

Reciting a quote by Winnie the Pooh "How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard"...My life was blessed the day we met by chance over a game of backgammon but a deep and solid friendship endured over the years and am proud to have called Fayiz my best friend for the past 13 years. Fayiz talked constantly of his children and grandchildren. His love and concerns for each one. Fayiz was an exceptional boss...He would spend hours in the kitchen making his pepper salad to share with all the employees. Fayiz was a hard working dedicated man to his family and businesses and will be GREATLY missed by all who knew him. My fondest memory will be when he would call and share some song with me as he drove to a business meeting . I loved to hear him sing along with the song even if he was a bit off key. It was a blessing to share something that made him happy. My deepest condolences go out to his family during this difficult time.

Mr Fayiz you will be missed. It was a pleasure calling you my friend. It was a pleasure dealing with you through the years. I will miss when my father would let me know know you called and were asking for me to come up and see you. You would sit me down to share some business knowledge or asking for help with some project. I will never forget sitting in that office waiting patently while you would get comfortable. While I would wait for you to speak (which most of the times took a bit) I would spend the time wondering how you were able to work with just that 1 desk light above your monitor. You were very kind and as long as I drive down the road to our shop I will always remember you. To the family, I am very sorry for your loss he was a very kind man and a gentleman I am happy to have had the chance to meet. My deepest condolences.
