Anthony Sileno Obituary

Anthony F. Sileno

WAPPINGERS FALLS - Anthony Frank "Tony" Sileno of Wappingers Falls, NY passed suddenly into the arms of God on February 23 at the age of 74. Tony, who grew up in Newburgh, was the son of the late John Guy & Vera Squillace Sileno. Tony will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. We will miss his love and compassion and especially his humor. Tony is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years Anne (O'Leary) Sileno and their four children: Maria DeLoughry (husband Tom), Christina Hopper (husband John), Terri Sileno, and Andy Sileno (wife Suzanne). He is greatly missed by his six grandchildren on whom he showered his love and patience: Ryan DeLoughry, Kevin DeLoughry, Allison Hopper, Elizabeth Hopper, Samuel Sileno, and Olivia Sileno. Tony is also survived by a brother, John, of Fort Meyers, FL, and many nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Manhattan College with a BS in mathematics and attended St. John's University. An information systems professional, Tony worked for a number of companies in the Hudson Valley, retiring from the Mid-Hudson Medical Group several years ago. A devout Catholic, Tony served St. Martin de Porres for 43 years as a lector, cantor, and choir member and donated his time in his retirement to maintain the computer lab of the parish's school. Tony was also a 4th Degree and Past Grand Knight of Council #7551 of St. Martin de Porres and he also sang with the IBM Mixed Chorus. Tony was a life-long Dodgers fan, who did not hold a grudge after the team left Brooklyn. All who knew Tony, including the gang who gathered at the bagel shop after morning mass, will miss his warmth and his love of jokes and puns that often brightened someone's day. Friends are invited to join Tony's family for Calling Hours on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 form 3-8 PM at the Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. The Kof C #7551 will be having their Memorial Service at 7PM during the Calling Hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 at 10 AM on Wednesday, February 26, 2013. Burial will folow in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial Donations maybe made to St. Martin de Porres School, 122 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 for Academic Scholarships. Dear Anne and Family, As a new Knight, I only briefly knew Tony - so helpful and considerate he was to me. Someone with who I thought I would enjoy years of friendship and continue to enjoy his beautiful voice at 7:30am Mass when we were so lucky to have him. So abruptly sometimes God reminds us that His plans are not ours...I will miss him dearly.

Tony will be greatly missed. A fine man who would quote jokes from Readers Digest and had a wonderful sense of humor. Sang with us at the St. Martin Choir as a tenor and beautiful voice. You will be singing with the choir of angels in heaven - Ann, Terry and Carrie O'Herron from Poughkeepsie, NY

Dear Anne and family,
No one knows why God called our cousin Tony so soon but we can visualize his warm smile before God telling a joke. May God give you each day the comfort and healing and know he is in God's presence for it is told in God's word. Love Cousins Jim & Janet Barry

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.

Dear Ann and the Sileno Family,

We are truly saddened by the lost of our beloved Tony, who always gives so generously of himself and was always so willing to share a smile and a funny story. We will miss him so very much. The heavenly host will gain a great voice. Eternal rest Grant unto him, O Lord. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be consoled.
