Ackermann
Poughkeepsie, NY - John J. Ackermann, 83, of the City of Poughkeepsie, passed away at home on April 25, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Yonkers, NY on April 1, 1933, the son of Stephen & Blanche Kwechin Ackermann. John graduated with a BA from Manhattan College and received a M.Ed from Fordham University. He taught for many years at Lincoln Hall, Mahopac Central School District and briefly at Our Lady of Lourdes High School. John married Marjorie M. Duesel in 1959 at Christ the King Church in Yonkers, NY. She survives at home. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Survivors include his children: Barbara (John) Ricciardi; John(Lisa) Ackermann, Jr.; Christine ( Michael) Haupt; Stephen (Kathryn) Ackermann; Patricia (Frank) Grassi; Joseph (Lily) Ackermann; Paul (Amber) Ackermann; he was the beloved brother of Patricia Smith and grandfather to:Gabriella, Maria, Daniel, Luke, Sophia, Gia, Nicholas, Nora, Mason And Gibson. He was predeceased by adored granddaughter Elizabeth. Visitation is Sun., May 1, 2016, 2-6 PM at the WM. G.Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Pok, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Mon., 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, 231 Church St., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Peter's Cemetery. The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
