Ralph J. Pecora, Jr.

Fishkill - Ralph J. Pecora, Jr., a long time Beacon area resident, entered into rest at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on Friday, May 30, 2014. He was 91.

Born in Freeland, Pennsylvania on April 20, 1923 Ralph was the son of the late Ralph J. and Madeline Greco Pecora. On June 22, 1946 Ralph married Carolyn Massey at St. Peter's Cathedral in Memphis, Tennessee. Carolyn survives at home. Ralph was a Veteran of the US Navy serving from 1944 to 1946. He was a graduate of Penn State University in 1950. The next year he taught a course in thermodynamics at their grad school. Ralph and Carolyn moved to Beacon in 1951 where he started his career with Texaco Research Center until he retired in 1985. He was a parishioner of St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church and later St. Mary Mother of the Church, a past president of St. John's Parish Council and president of the Holt Name Society.

In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by his children, Paul Pecora and his wife, Tami of Tucson, Arizona, Deborah Pettorossi of Beacon, Gail Gates and her husband, Tom of Rhinebeck; his grandchildren, Mark, David, Melanie, Steven, Michelle, Elizabeth and Michael; his great grandchildren, Jayda and Antonio; several nieces and nephews.

Ralph was predeceased by his siblings, John, Carl, Amelia, Beatrice, Rita and Maria and his son-in-law, Ronald Pettorossi.

The family will receive their friends on Monday, June 2, 2014 from 3-6 pm at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 3 at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon. Burial will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill. Memorial donations in memory of Ralph may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
