Anna Belle Garret

Poughkeepsie - Anna Belle entered into a peaceful rest following a long illness on January 14, 2013. She was born on October 28, 1938 to Kathleen Lindsay and Clifton Garret. She was born and raised in Beacon, NY attending Beacon schools where she resided most of her life until moving to Poughkeepsie, NY. Anna Belle worked at Montrose VA as a Nursing Asst for a number of years until she retired.

Anna Belle's interests were singing, cooking, reading, and more. She was a Mentor. Anna Belle was very charismatic and had a sense of style. She was a very good listener and one for giving and sharing wisdom and knowledge. To know her was to love her! Anna Belle was a devoted mother to six children, one daughter; Anita Garret, five sons; Bishme Charles Paulin and wife Jean Paulin, Moleek Michael Garret, Satu John Garret, Todd Brown and Scott Hodge.

As a Humanitarian she supported various charities such as, St. Jude Children's Hospital, Paralyzed Veterans of America and Drive To Feed America's Poorest.

Anna Belle is survived by her six children, one daughter-in-law, Jean Paulin, 24 grandchildren, a host of great grands, nephews, nieces, cousins, and life long friends. Although you knew Anna Belle for her wonderful qualities, most importantly she was a true woman of God.

Visitation is Thursday, January 24, 2013 10 - 11AM at The Springfield Baptist Church 8 Mattie Cooper Square Beacon, NY 12508. A Home Going Celebration will be celebrated immediately follow at 11AM with Rev Dr. Ronald O. Perry, Sr. Pastor. Interment to proceed in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
