Charlotte A. Thomas
Poughkeepsie - Charlotte A Thomas, age 91, of Poughkeepsie, died Sunday, August 25, 2013 at the Renaissance Nursing Home in Staatsburg, NY. Charlotte was born January 27, 1922 in Newburgh, NY. She is the daughter of the late Oscar and the late Alma (Buchanan) Rau. She married Jack E. Thomas on December 15, 1945 in Poughkeepsie, NY, Jack predeceased her on February 25, 1992.
Charlotte was a graduate of the Dover Plains High School in 1939 and a graduate of Krissler Business Institute in 1940. Charlotte also attended class at Arlington High School in the evening so that she could obtain her Insurance Brokers License.
Charlotte was employed for many years at Standard Gage as a secretary, she was a Insurance secretary, underwriter and rater for R.G. Hill Agency and former Luckey, Waterman & Heaton Agency which was purchased by the R.G. Hill Agency, The Pleasant Valley Insurance Agency and the Kallman Insurance Agency. Charlotte was also the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Admissions at Bennett College Millbrook, NY.
She is survived by ; her nieces Candy Ireland and her husband Barry of Poughkeepsie, NY; her nephew Richard Rau and his wife Gail of Pleasant Valley, NY and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Oscar Rau Jr. June 11, 2004
A graveside service will be held 11:30 am on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.

Charlotte Thomas was a loyal, reliable and willing employee of the R G Hill Agency. She was accurate in her work and inspired customers to rely on her for trust, a very valuable trait in customer satisfaction. She was an asset to our business!
