Cleone M. Ratcliff

Poughkeepsie - Cleone M. Ratcliff, 95, of Poughkeepsie, NY died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie. Born in Colonie, NY on December 24, 1917, she is the daughter of the late Warren T. and Lottie Olmsted Ratcliff.

Cleone grew up in North Creek, NY and is a graduate of North Creek High School where she played the trumpet in the school band and also played the cornet. She enjoyed skiing at Gore Mountain and Lake Placid, NY. She spent many hours in the Library researching her family heritage which can be traced back to Kings in England. Her uncle, Rev. Darius Ratcliff of Bristol Springs and Naples, NY helped provide Cleone with their family research. She and her sister Muriel were proud to be tenth generation Ratcliff's.

Cleone and her mother moved from North Creek in 1958 to Florida before settling in Poughkeepsie in 1959. She is a member of the Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church. She had been employed by Poughkeepsie Savings Bank, Dutchess Community College and in 1969 she was employed by the City of Poughkeepsie Social Services. In 1973 she was employed as an Account Clerk for Dutchess County Social Services until her retirement in 1986. She had a total of 17 years employment between the City of Poughkeepsie and Dutchess County.

Gratitude is extended to the Doctors and Nurses at the RCU Unit at Vassar Hospital and the Doctors and Nurses on the fifth floor at River Valley Care Center for the care they all gave to Cleone. She is survived by many cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be held from 9 AM to 10 AM Monday, April 8, with funeral services being held 10 AM at the Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie. Rev.
