Highland - Crawford S. Countryman 82, a longtime resident of Highland passed away on June 6, 2014 at Albany VA Medical Center.
Mr. Countryman was a mechanic for Star Expansion in Mountainville, NY for many years up until his retirement.
He was a member of the VFW in New Paltz, the Wood carving club also known as the Chippers and the First United Methodist Church in Highland since 1967.
Mr. Countryman was a United States Army Veteran served during the Korean era in Korea. He was honorably discharged.
He was born on October 21, 1931. The son of the late Romain Countryman and Clara Kougher Countryman.
In 1972 in Washingtonville, NY he married Pearl I. Wright. Mrs. Countryman predeceased him on December 22, 1999.
Survivors include his son Brian S. Countryman and his wife Christine of Walden, NY, his daughters; Ida M. Sutton and her husband Willard of Highland, Pamela J. Countryman of Highland, NY, seven grandchildren; Tiffany, Amanda, Todd, Jessica, Aron, Timothy and Richard. Additional survivors include his eight great grandchildren, his brother; Robert T. Countryman of Rural Grove, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Countryman was predeceased by his brothers; Richard and Donald Countryman.
Calling hours are Tuesday June 10th from 4-8pm at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. 38 Main St. Highland, NY 12528.
Funeral service will take place on Wednesday June 11th 10:00am at the First United Methodist Church in Highland with Reverend Arlene Dawber officiating.
Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery with military honors.
