Salt Point - David B. Butler, 55, of Salt Point, New York, passed away on October 7, 2012, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, after a long, hard and bravely fought battle with leukemia. His wife, children and extended family were at his side. He was a proud member of Local 21 Plumbers, Steamfitters & HVACR Union for over 25 years.
Born on October 27, 1956, in Poughkeepsie, New York, he was the son of James and Dorothy Butler of Poughkeepsie, New York, both of whom survive him. Dave, as he was known to his friends, loved to travel and was an avid fisherman and boater. He is even credited for saving the lives of family, friends and the boat in a boat sinking incident off the coast of Florida. He was a kind and caring person that brought out the best in people. He was a life long Green Bay Packers fan and loved to golf, garden and do home improvement projects.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his devoted wife, Teri Rhodes-Butler of Salt Point, his loyal son, David B. Butler, and his significant other Maegan Barr of Hyde Park, NY, his loving daughter, Jessica R. Daly and her husband Joe and his grandson, Emmett Daly of Hyde Park, NY. He is also survived by his brother, James Butler and wife, Linda, of Fishkill, NY, sister Debra Canale and husband, Michael, of Red Hook, NY and sister Christine Johnson and husband Timothy of Colchester, VT. Christine was also Dave's bone marrow donor. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and his beloved Uncle Gerald Butler of Vero Beach, FL.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Wm. G. Miller and Son Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY, 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 185 Hudson View Drive, Poughkeepsie, NY, 12601. Father James Garisto will officiate.
