PLEASANT VALLEY - Earl R. Finkle, Jr., a resident of Pleasant Valley,NY , passed away at Hudson Valley Rehabilitation and Extended Care Center in Highland,NY on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Born in Poughkeepsie on May 18, 1934 to the late Earl and Olive Hamblin Finkle, he was the oldest of 2 children. Earl enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany from 1953-1956. After leaving the Army, Earl came home, married the love of his life Barbara Harrison, and had 3 children. Mrs. Finkle predeceased him in 2006.
Earl was famous for his fun loving disposition and his love for hunting and fishing. He turned his hobby into a side business and opened his own bait shop. Earl's Bait Shop was the place to go for all of your outdoor bait, tackle and hunting needs. No matter the time, he would get there to make sure you were well stocked for your day ahead. Earl worked for Hudson Armored Car until it closed in 1994, and then went to work for Dutchess County Loop until he retired in February 2011.
Earl is survived by his son Gary and Anna Finkle of Stanfordville; his daughter Lori and Jerald Davis and their children, Anna-Marie, Christopher and Heather of Poughkeepsie; his son Glen Finkle and Harry Eason of New Windsor; his grandchildren, Erin and her husband Erin Clancy and their children Crystal, Melissa and Meghan of Stanfordville, Corina and Bill Gilmore and their children Molly and Analese of Salisbury, CT.; and last but certainly not least, his very dear friend Gail Murphy of Pleasant Valley. He was predeceased by his sister Jean.
Funeral services and burial will be private under the direction of Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley.
Earl will be truly missed by all his family and friends.
